4th  European Wood-Based Panel Symposium
15-17 September 2004 in Hanover, Germany


EPF and WKI are organising their 4th European Wood-Based Panel Symposium on 15-17 September 2004 in Hanover, Germany. This event is intended to serve as a forum for the wood-based panel industries, their suppliers, customers and researchers. Speakers from many countries will present new technologies for Adding Value through Innovative Technologies and Quality Improvement. The conference is supported by FEIC, FEROPA and VTH.

Following the great success of the 3rd European Wood-Based Panel Symposium in September 2001, which attracted over 300 participants from 27 European and North American countries, EPF will organise a new major technical conference in September 2004 in co-operation with the Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institute (WKI). It is intended to serve as a forum for the wood-based panel industries, their suppliers, customers and researchers. The European federation of the plywood industry (FEIC) and the European federation of fibreboard manufacturers (FEROPA) support this event.

The 4th European Wood-Based Panels Symposium will take place on 15-17 September 2004 at the Maritim Grand Hotel in the centre of Hanover (Germany). The allgemein theme of the symposium will be: Reduction of production costs - Adding Value through Innovative Technologies and Quality Improvement. There will be 4 sessions with technical presentations by speakers from different countries covering the following fields:

  • Market trends and new products;
  • Raw material: supply, availability and logistics;
  • Advanced Production Technologies;
  • Improvement of quality.


EPF and WKI would be pleased to receive high quality papers and posters from interested authors that complement the conference themes. Papers should focus on current issues relevant to the industry and should be of high technical content.
One page abstracts should be sent to EPF or WKI by 31 January 2004.Abstract should clearly define the objectives of the presentation, topics covered, key conclusions reached and potential benefits to the industry. Final manuscripts will be required by 30 June 2004 for inclusion in the proceedings. Conference registration fees will be waived for speakers.
