MDF Outside

6. Building and construction

External doors for houses, garages and other buildings can be manufactured from exterior grade MDF. For some sheltered applications, moisture resistant MDF can be considered as an alternative.

The doors can be manufactured from flat sheets using adhesive bonded mouldings and raised centre panels also cut from exterior grade MDF on the face for decorative effect.

Alternatively, decorative features can be cut into the faces of thicker MDF panels.

A major advantage of MDF doors compared with solid wood constructions is improved dimensional stability resulting in a reduced risk of sticking in damp conditions and the elimination of joint opening in dry conditions.

Exterior grade MDF, suitably sealed against moisture ingress, can be used for cladding, under eaves panelling and for other non structural panel work on the exteriors of buildings.
