The smooth surfaces and good machinability of exterior grade MDF can be used to good effect for the manufacture of children’s toys and play equipment intended for permanent use outside or likely to be left outside and subject to intermittent wetting. Typical applications include the following:

- Play houses
- Slides
- Sandpit enclosures
- Pull along toys
- Baby walkers

On a larger scale, exterior grade MDF has been used to good effect for feature panelling, animal cut outs, models, direction signs and play areas in theme parks and other leisure establishments.
